Pethia adalah genus ikan air tawar berukuran kecil dalam keluarga Cyprinidae yang berasal dari Asia Selatan, Asia Timur (hanya spesies Pethia stoliczkana yang tercatat) dan Daratan Asia Tenggara.[2] Beberapa spesiesnya biasa terlihat dalam perdagangan akuarium. Namanya berasal dari Bahasa Sinhala pethia, yakni sebuah kata umum yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan beberapa spesies kecil ikan dalam famili Cyprinidae.[1] Sebeumnya sebagian besar anggota genus ini termasuk dalam genus Puntius, hingga akhirnya direvisi pada tahun 2012.[1]
