Rhodostemonodaphne adalah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam famili Lauraceae.[1][2] Ini adalah genus neotropikal yang terdiri dari sekitar 41 spesies yang ditemukan di Amerika Tengah dan utara Amerika Selatan.[3] Genus ini memiliki banyak spesies yang bernilai karena kayunya. Klasifikasi genus ini masih belum jelas karena spesies dalam genus ini termasuk ke dalam klad yang didukung dengan baik namun belum terpecahkan, yang juga mencakup spesies dengan bunga uniseksual yang saat ini ditempatkan dalam genus Endlicheria dan sebagian dari Ocotea.[4]
Deskripsi
Rhodostemonodaphne berupa semak dan pohon dengan tinggi mencapai 30 m, sebagian besar merupakan pohon kayu keras yang selalu hijau. Tumbuhan ini bersifat dioecious (bunga jantan dan betina berada pada pohon yang terpisah). Benang sarinya memiliki empat lokela yang terletak dalam lengkungan dangkal ke arah apeks anter. Daunnya tersusun berseling, berbentuk elips dengan tepi yang melengkung ke belakang, dan tipis (kertas).[5] Perbungaan bunga kecil berupa malai dengan ujung-ujung berbentuk rasem.
