Paul Christian Scheer (lahir 31 Januari 1976) adalah seorang komedian, aktor, pembuat film dan podcaster asal Amerika Serikat.[1] Scheer paling dikenal karena perannya dalam The League dan serial komedi Black Monday. Scheer juga ikut menciptakan dan membintangi Human Giant dan serial NTSF :SD:SUV::, dan memiliki peran berulang di Fresh Off the Boat[2] dan Veep.[3] Ia juga dikenal karena mengisi suara Chip Whistler di Big City Greens.
Di luar pekerjaan aktingnya, Scheer juga menjadi pembawa acara bersama dua podcast diskusi film: How Did This Get Made?, bersama istrinya June Diane Raphael dan kolaborator lama Jason Mantzoukas, dan Unspooled dengan kritikus film Amy Nicholson.[4]
Scheer adalah penulis memoar, Joyful Recollections of Trauma, yang diterbitkan oleh HarperCollins pada Mei 2024, dan menjadi Buku Terlaris New York Times.[5][6]
Kehidupan awal
Scheer lahir di Huntington, New York, putra dari pasangan Gail Ann (Decarlo) dan William Paul Scheer.[7] Scheer bersekolah di sekolah Katolik selama masa kecilnya[7] dan lulus dari SMA St. Anthony. Scheer mulai tampil di SMA dengan Chicago City Limits, sebuah kelompok improvisasi yang berbasis di New York.[8] Ia kemudian kuliah di Universitas New York,[9][10] di mana ia mengambil jurusan komunikasi dan pendidikan.[11] Scheer sering berbicara tentang kehidupan awalnya di podcast How Did This Get Made?.[12]
Kehidupan pribadi
Scheer menikah dengan aktris-penulis June Diane Raphael.[13] Pada Oktober 2009, Scheer dan Raphael menikah di Museum Sejarah Alam Santa Barbara, di mana pendamping pria Scheer adalah seorang peniru Jack Nicholson.[14] Mereka memiliki dua putra.[15][16] Scheer sering berlibur di Walt Disney World sejak kecil; pada tahun 2020, dia mengatakan bahwa dia telah melampaui ketergantungannya pada taman itu ketika dia masih muda, tetapi mengatakan bahwa itu tetap menjadi "bagian dari hidup saya, baik atau buruk" dan bahwa dia menikmati mengunjunginya dengan anak-anaknya.[17] Dia adalah penggemar Los Angeles Clippers, setelah mulai mengikuti tim tersebut ketika dia pindah ke Los Angeles dari New York pada tahun 2006.[18]
