Pastoralisme

Pastoralisme adalah cabang pertanian yang melingkupi pembesaran hewan. Ini adalah soal peternakan hewan: merawat, menjaga dan memanfaatkan hewan-hewan seperti sapi, unta, kambing, yak, llama, rusa kutub, kuda dan domba.^[1] Orang-orang yang menerapkan pastoralisme disebut "pastoralis".

Pastoralisme diterapkan dalam berbagai cara di seluruh dunia, umumnya saat karakteristik yang terdampak pada lingkungan seperti kegersangan, tanah rendah, suhu dingin atau hangat dan kekurangan air membuat tanaman sulit tumbuh tak memungkinkan untuk tumbuh. Beroperasi dalam lingkungan yang lebih ekstrim dengan tanam yang lebih marginal menandakan bahwa komunitas pastoral lebih rentan terhadap dampak pemanasan global.^[2]
