Anjing laut macan tutul (Hydruga leptonyx) adalah spesies anjing laut terbesar kedua di Antarktika (setelah anjing laut gajah selatan). Satunya predator alami adalah paus pembunuh. Ia memakan berbagai macam mangsa termasuk cephalopoda, pinniped lainnya, krill, burung dan ikan. Ini adalah satu-satunya spesies dalam genus Hydrurga. Kerabat terdekatnya adalah stempel Ross, stempel crabeater dan stempel Weddell, yang bersama-sama dikenal sebagai suku anjing laut Lobodontini.^[5]^[6]

Nama hydrurga berarti "pekerja air" dan leptonyx adalah bahasa Yunani untuk "cakar kecil".
