Boomslang (dari Bahasa Afrikaans, Boom="Pohon" dan Slang="Ular") atau benama latin Dispholidus typus adalah spesies ular pohon kolubrid yang tersebar luas di Benua Afrika.[4][5]
Morfologi
Panjang tubuh boomslang antara 1.0 sampai 1.6 meter (100 – 160 cm), tetapi pernah ditemukan spesimen dengan panjang mencapai 1.8 meter (183 cm). Sedangkan berat tubuhnya sekitar 0.8 sampai 0.5 kg (175 - 510 gram). Kepala berbentuk seperti telur dengan mata berukuran besar. Pada ular jantan, tubuhnya berwarna hijau muda dengan tepian sisik berwarna hitam atau kebiruan. Sedangkan ular betina berwarna kecokelatan.[6][7]
Penyebaran dan Ekologi
Boomslang tersebar luas di Afrika Sub-Sahara.[8]
Boomslang tinggal dan berkelana pada siang hari (diurnal) di atas pepohonan (arboreal). Makanan utamanya adalah kadal, kameleon, katak, mamalia kecil, burung, dan telur burung.[5] Boomslang juga memangsa ular lain, termasuk jenisnya sendiri.[9]
Boomslang berkembangbiak dengan bertelur (ovipar). Jumlah telur yang dihasilkan mencapai 30 butir dan memerlukan waktu pengeraman (inkubasi) selama 3 bulan. Anak Boomslang yang baru menetas berukuran panjang sekitar 20 cm. Bayi ular jantan berwarna kelabu atau kebiruan, sedangkan bayi ular betina berwarna kecokelatan. Seiring dengan bertambahnya umur, warna tubuhnya berubah secara bertahap.

Tidak seperti ular kolubrid pada umumnya, boomslang adalah ular yang memiliki bisa mematikan. Bisa ular ini bersifat hemotoksin atau dapat merusak sel-sel darah.[5][10]
