Referensi dan catatan

↑ While some sources cite 1907 as Garvin's birth year, government records consistently document the year as 1906, including federal census schedules, New York City birth records, and the "California Death Index" for 1940–1997. Most of her obituaries also cite her age as 88 at the time of her death. As noted in some biographical profiles on Garvin, she deliberately "adjusted" her age very early in her career to improve her chances of obtaining employment, adjustments that may have led to later confusion regarding her true birth year. It is worth noting too that no birth year is inscribed on Anita Garvin Stanley's grave marker, only her year of death.
